“Polly” Boston has always liked to draw, but during her career as a public school vocal music teacher, art was her hobby. From the Famous Artists Schools correspondence course she learn the fundamentals of drawing, and she has done many charcoal portraits, scratchboard pictures, and acrylic paintings on commission. Her commissioned charcoal portrait of the local librarian checking out books for children hangs in the public library in Columbiana, OH, her hometown. Her work has hung in the Butler Museum of Art in Youngstown, Ohio, and in many galleries in Florida.
After discovering watercolor, she studied with several excellent teachers at Art Center Manatee, and has developed her own realistic style. Watercolor and scratchboard are now her favorite artistic media. She is a signature member of both the Florida Watercolor Society and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society and has won many awards. She likes to do commissioned paintings, because it involves her in studying subjects that she would not ordinarily think of to paint. Polly likes working with people to produce the perfect piece of artwork for gifts or for their homes.
