Throughout her life, Joanne has been strongly influenced by the water and aquatic environment in which she lived. Childhood summers were spent at a family waterfront camp in the Lakes Region of NH and she continues to enjoy living in the Tampa Bay area. She is an avid scuba diver and loves to explore the underwater world in many exotic locations.
Artistic expression with watercolors allows Joanne to demonstrate her love for adventure travel, nature and local cultures through a medium that evokes her passion. Primarily a studio artist, she works from field sketches and personal photographs. She strives to develop a loose, realistic style enhanced by transparent, luminous watercolor paints and the unrestrained flow of water.
Joanne has studied with local artists including Libit Jones, Terry Denson and Patton Hunter. She has attended workshops with nationally recognized artists Jean Grastorf, Janet Rogers and Don Andrews. These artists have helped Joanne develop her own unique artistic style and appreciate the limitless possibilities of watercolor as an artistic medium.
Joanne is a member of Florida Watercolor Society, Suntan Art Center and a Signature Member of FSWS. She exhibits her paintings throughout the West Coast of Florida and participates in juried exhibitions.
