Nationally known artist Augusto Argandoña has gained recognition for his crisp and realistic watercolors. With a degree in Industrial Design from California State University, he has practiced his profession for twenty years while pursuing his passion for painting. Following a career change in 1990, he devoted himself to painting and marketing his art. In 1992 his art was featured in an article in North Light Magazine.
Moving to Sarasota in 1997 Argandoña found the large national and international audience the market he was looking for, this audience is the source of his large clientele. Seeing the absence of prints of local tourist locations, the artist began painting beach images. The response he received fueled his enthusiasm and he began to produce prints of tourist locations from Anna Maria Island to Boca Grande.
In addition to marketing his art at galleries and gift shops, the artist also teaches watercolor painting at his studio and local art centers as well as Suncoast Technical Center.
Argandoña’s paintings are included in private, corporate, and public collections and have won first place and best of show awards in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. In March 2013, he earned Signature status in FSWS.
