Fall 2012 Member News

Nancy Colby was awarded Best of Show and People’s Choice Award for her painting of Giaco in the North Port Art Center in the September-October Fur & Feathers Exhibition. She has illustrated a children’s book about Moshi, a cat.  The book is available at www.catsbycolby.com.  A public book signing and exhibition of the original illustrations will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 5-9 pm at North Port Art Center. Nancy was voted Best Pet Portrait Artist 2012 by Sarasota Pet Magazine.

Linda Lee Foster Paul is participating in “The Joy of Creating”- Wine & Cheese Reception and a silent auction – Wednesday, October 24 @5-8pm at Ammerman Center for Creative Aging, Faith Lutheran Church, 7750 Beneva Road, Sarasota, FL.  No admission charge. Essie Garfinkel‘s watercolor Double Stuff was juried into the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society’s 66th Annual international Aqueous Open show and was awarded the Daler-Rowney Merit Award.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Hartman  achieved Signature Status in FWS. She was inadvertently omitted from the notice in the September eblast article.

June Morse showed Dylan’s Cafe the Catamount Arts Annex at 139 eastern Ave, St Johnsbury, Vt. This is her own show including her flag series and various local scenes.

Roger Parent won 2nd Place for his Landscape in pastel at the Art Center Manatee’s September exhibition, “Fur, Feather, Flora, Fauna”.

Kris Parins was awarded Signature Status in the National Watercolor Society. Her painting Against the Light was selected for the NWS Traveling Exhibit and received the Jerry’s Artarama Award.

Diane Schmidt won an Honorable Mention in the Artist’s magazine contest in the abstract category and her painting will be published with a short blurb in the 2012 December issue of the Artist’s magazine.
Diane won awards in the Wyoming and Red River Watercolor national exhibits; the painting from the Red River show was published in the fall issue of American Artist Watercolor. She also won the gold award in the Tallahassee Regional Tri-state Exhibition.
